IT Monitoring Manager

Position Summary:

The IT Monitoring Manageris responsible for monitoring the organization’s computing networks, infrastructure, and applications for proper 24x7 coverage using a team of RevSpring employees and outsourced resources and tools.   Manages the Incident Response process, and maintenance window communication. Operates as part of the Infrastructure Operations team to ensure RevSpring’s infrastructure functions at maximum capacity for daily operations

 

Essential Functions:

 

·       Manage the day to day operations of the RevSpring monitoring team

·       Manage the response to major incidents and outages for RevSpring’s networks, infrastructure, and applications.

·       Manage the communication around major incidents and outages internally

·       Manage any vendor relationships with outsourced monitoring

·       Create a process for managing the normal workflow operation of standard maintenance windows

·       Provide guidance for the configuration and support of monitoring tools and outsourced monitoring shifts

·       Produce and maintain team metrics and monitoring tool performance metrics and reports

·       Provide availability metrics for networks, infrastructure, and applications to management

·       Collaborate in the creation of standards, polices, and processes for the monitoring teams

·       Analyze current monitoring systems effectiveness and create plans to improve or expand visibility into the system or application performance

·       Work with groups within RevSpring IT to create custom dashboards, alerts, metrics, and reports

·       Hire and train new employees for the monitoring team as necessary

·       Publish availability information to the RevSpring community

·       Perform special project related tasks as assigned.

Position Responsibilities:

·       Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.

·       Experience: 5-10 years of experience monitoring an existing computing infrastructure, and applications - preferably custom internally developed applications. At least 3 years managing a team of individuals. 3 years experience working with databases, scripting and at least one major monitoring platform/tool. Flexibility to work different shifts is a must.

·       Supervision: Experiencing with hiring and firing responsibility required

·       Specific Job Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of common monitoring processes and standards. Ability to communicate effectively and calmly during a major incident to move resolution forward. Ability to coordinate a team and goal-set effectively. Understanding of computer networking, application development, and security/privacy concepts.
