Jira System Administrator

Position Summary:


 The Jira System Administrator is responsible for developing and managing initiatives as it relates to Jira Service Desk, Jira Software and Confluence to ensure that project goals are accomplished.  The ideal candidate will have advance knowledge of Atlassian Cloud applications and will be able to administer supporting plug ins.  



Essential Functions:

  • Daily management and support of Atlassian cloud stack including JIRA and Confluence administration
  • Creation and management of custom, complex projects, workflows, security schemes, custom fields, dashboards and reports configurations.
  • Install, manage and administer Jira add-ons, plugins, and extensions.
  • Analyze requests for new JIRA functionality, implement new features, triage incoming support requests and handle or route appropriately 
  • Meet with stakeholders to identify JIRA Project and Confluence needs and implement them as appropriate. 
  • Perform requirements gathering, business process workflows, and process improvement for JIRA/Confluence workflows and processes in place, identifying where functionality can/cannot meet user requests.
  • Conduct training for employees and new hires on JIRA and Confluence regarding how to use the tools, new functionality, etc.
  • Develop and compile training materials based on the department’s needs.
  • Create, maintain and support dashboards and advanced filters for end users reporting capabilities.
  • Establish and execute data stewardship and best practices.
  • Provide User Management and grant user permissions in accordance with role given by the company.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical and user facing documentation.

  • Expert level tool administration knowledge on JIRA, and proficiency in Atlassian tool suite.
  • Basic programming knowledge with an understanding of various Java frameworks
  • Experience installing and updating JIRA plugins
  • Proficient in Project Setups, Components, JIRA Reporting, Report Filters and Dashboard creation
  • Excellent problem solving and process implementation skills.

  • Intermediate to expert proficiency Atlassian Cloud Applications
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze an issue/problem and make recommendations for an effective and efficient resolution.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines





  • 4+ years as Jira Cloud administrator with experience customizing Jira projects with various schemes, complex workflows, and permissions.
  • 2+ years hands on experience working with Atlassian product suite.
  • 1+ years experience gathering requirements from client and business.
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language).
  • Develop custom scripts / Rest APIs calls to integrate other systems with JIRA and to pull data for metrics reporting. Develop and deploy custom plugins for JIRA.Experience with EasyBI a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
